Join us to Swim with Humpback Whales in the stunning island of Aitutaki!
We have been looking for a new place out of the crowds to take you swimming with our gentle giants of the sea. And we found the heavenly, paradise island of Aiutaki in the Cook Islands (Voted the ‘most beautiful island in the world’ by Lonely Planet).
You will be amazed by the beauty of this atoll. The name Aiutaki means “Little Paradise” and we couldn’t agree more, especially when we can go swimming with our humpback whales too!
This new destination is extremely special as only two boat operators offering swim-with-the-whales, leaving most of the humpbacks, just for us each day!
We offer personally-escorted, small group ‘snorkelling with whales’ eco-tours in this new destination you will never forget!
Our all inclusive 7 & 9-night packages for just 10 guests, include beach-side & poolside accommodation, 6 or 8 x 1/2-day boat trips with the whales (and other amazing marine-life), leaving some leisure time, 4 evening meals including a sunset excursion & airport transfers.
After 24 years operating our Tonga and 8 years our Tahiti whale swim tours – we are really excited to have our 3rd beautiful island as one of our humpback locations in the South Pacific. We know our past-guests will wanting to join us again here as well!
Our new dedicated & passionate team Marie, Tui and our skipper and boat owner, Onu, will take care of every detail to deliver the best humpback whale experience in Aitutaki! (See info about our team, further down the page.

Why not stay extra days!
PLEASE NOTE! We recommend that you seriously consider adding extra nights’ accommodation each end of your tour dates when you make your tour booking if you are craving from North America, UK or Europe! Jet lag is real! Nothing worse than trying to stay awake in the water with the whales!
It’s really worth it to take time to, slow down to ‘Raro time’ and for a couple of nights to go diving or just relax after your tour to integrate what you have experienced during your time with us, before you start your journey home, to that ‘other’ reality!
PLEASE BE AWARE!!! There is also a shortage of accommodation on both Aitutaki & Rarotonga during the whale season, so its good to lock in your extra accommodation when you book your tour.
You can add the extra night/s once you have booked your tour and in our online booking system at our resort hotel to treat yourself got a few nights at the Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort (Adults Only), right on the famous lagoon!

Our Incredible Team
Marie LeBourgeois
Marie is the newest member of our Team! She lives near to Serville, in coastal Spain with her Italian partner, when she is not somewhere else in the world with her business ‘Carry my Surf’, in the ocean surfing, diving, wakeboarding or just playing in the waves or creating /promoting /marketing on our social media pages!
Marie has always been passionate about the ocean, probably spent more of her life underwater than on land! She left France more than 8 years ago and worked for 4 years in the Scuba Industry in Indonesia, Thailand as instructor then managed a dive school in the Philippines, then moved to Australia and managed a restaurant. Though she left the diving world, she was living by the beach and going swimming and playing in the waves every morning at 6am before work and then surfing whenever she had free time.
My first experience in the water, was with a mum & her calf, as the calf came towards us, she was hypnotised and was sobbing into her mask. She had never had such an emotion of crying of happiness and felt so connected to the whales.
Back on the boat after so many beautiful encounters, I knew I had to work with whales, this was my calling. Few people know what their deepest passion is in life, from that time, I knew for sure it was this.
She will be your Tour Leader and in-the-water Guide for our Aitutaki tours in 2024!
She is also making sure that we keep on creating this beautiful ‘whale-swimmers community’ that we have with all of you & making sure our marketing platforms reflect our tours!
Rae Gill
Rae is the passionate owner of WhaleSwim Adventures. Rae has been swimming with humpback whales since 1998 and her connection and love for these majestic creatures, all marine life, the preservation of our oceans and the environment is always present. Being in the ocean with humpback whales is her ‘happy place’!
Rae has travelled and worked in 6 countries in the African continent, the Middle East, South East Asia, South & North America, UK, Europe and Australia in her lifetime, as reading her Dad’s National Geographic magazines growing up, started the passion for travel and adventure. An experience with whales when she was 9 years old in New Zealand, re-alighted her connection with whales when she heard about the opportunity and travelled to swim with humpbacks in 1998. She knew then it was her calling and the rest is history!
Based in New Zealand, Rae travels to Tahiti and Aitutaki, Timor Leste for the whale seasons. As a naturalist, she has extensive knowledge of humpbacks and many species of whales that has been gathered over the past 24 years, along with many stories to tell.
Our Boat & Crew – Tui – in-the-water Whale Guide & Onu Hewett – skipper
Onu, (on the left) has been taking whale-enthusiasts to swim with whales for several years now and is one of only 2 whaleswim companies on Aitutaki. He has also been aa Dive Instructor and Dive Master for many years in Aituataki. His son-in-law, Tui (born in New Zealand of Tongan decent) takes us in to the ocean with the whales. He always has a smile on his face and loves the ocean, scuba diving and humpback whales!
Our whale-swimming vessel “Bubbles Below’ (also double as a dive boat for Dive Aitutaki) has plenty of shade, several areas to get some sun easy entry and exit from the water. We will have snacks aboard each day (but bring your own favorites too). Some days, there may be an opportunity to swim with other marine mammals, turtles and what ever happens to appear around us!
The water is a beautiful 25C – 27C during the whale season.
